Collection and Use of Information
Information You Provide
When you provide information, through online forms, email, or otherwise sending us information, we may use it for various reasons, such as to register you for a conference or extend your membership. If you do not wish to provide this information in digital format, please contact ASA at (415) 974-9600, but please be aware that there may be additional fees and charges that apply to some forms of transactions that you ask us to conduct by phone, mail, or fax. ASA complies with legislative and regulatory restrictions with regard to email addresses and does not share your email address with any other entities without your express authorization.
When You Register to Attend an ASA Conference
A list of conference registrants, including their mailing addresses, is provided for one-time use to registered exhibitors for that one conference. Individuals who do not wish to have their information provided for this purpose should contact email@example.com for assistance in opting out of these mailings.
Rental of ASA Membership/Conference Registration Mailing Lists
ASA makes lists of its membership and conference attendees available for rental for one-time use to other associations or companies that have products or services that we deem to be of interest to our members. If you are an ASA member or conferencee attendee and do not wish to have your information included in rented lists, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance in opting out of these mailings.
Continuing Education Records
Course information, exams, and license numbers submitted for continuing education credit units (CEUs) are maintained for a period of five years. Records are submitted in aggregate to CEU providers for after-course agreements. Upon request from providers, names, addresses, license numbers and course information on learners who have requested continuing education credits are provided to CEU accreditation organizations.
When you submit an application for employment with ASA, we use your personal information for purposes directly related to evaluating your application for employment only and do not share that information with any other party under any circumstances other than compulsion by law, court order or regulatory compliance.
Access to Your Information
Via the profile pages, ASA members and others who create an account with ASA may view, update, or edit information specific to that account. Whether you are an ASA member or a non-member, you must be logged into the site to access and edit this information.
Credit Card Payments
ASA's technology vendors use industry-standard encryption to protect consumer data and privacy when accepting credit or debit card payments over the web. ASA uses Authorize.Net LLC (www.authorize.net) for the direct processing of electronic card payments for products, fees, subscriptions, and donations that we accept via our web site. Your credit card information is immediately transmitted to Authorize.Net via an encrypted connection to a Authorize.Net server. ASA does not retain information concerning your credit card issuer, card number except the last four digits, or expiration date, and Authorize.Net does not provide ASA with access to this information. Once a transaction has been approved, we retain access to the last four digits of your card number, the card holder name, and the purchase amount.
